Lectotype: CAS-SU 1030 [ex USNM 44846]. Paralectotypes: CAS-SU 18081 (3), USNM 44846 (orig. 6, now 2). Type catalog: Böhlke 1953:28 [ref. 12291], Gilbert 1998:197 [ref. 23395]. Original description states that USNM 44846 is type, but that lot contained 2 specimens; lectotype selected by Böhlke 1953:28 [ref. 12291]. •Valid as Moxostoma rhothoecum (Thoburn 1896) -- (Lee et al. 1980:431 [ref. 22416]). •Valid as Thoburnia rhothoeca (Thoburn 1896) -- (Page & Burr 1991:189 [ref. 18983], Jenkins & Burkhead 1994:485 [ref. 21581], Stauffer et al. 1995:202 [ref. 23376], Gilbert 1998:197 [ref. 23395], Gilbert 1998:197 [ref. 23395], Fuller et al. 1999:174 [ref. 25838], Nelson et al. 2004:80 [ref. 27807], Scharpf 2006:13 [ref. 30386], Page & Burr 2011:338 [ref. 31215], Page et al. 2013:81 [ref. 32708], Page et al. 2023:66 [ref. 40505]).
